Description
Silvanone® Supra is a macrocyclic musk with a sweet, powdery, and animalic scent that shares characteristics with nitro musks. It stands out for its high longevity and stability in fragrance compositions, offering fullness and a lasting presence in the final scent.
In perfumery, this ingredient blends exceptionally well with woody and amber notes, while adding rich character to floral compositions. It is particularly effective in sophisticated white floral fragrances, spicy carnation notes, and oriental compositions.
From a chemical perspective, Silvanone® Supra is a mixture of cyclohexadecanolide and cyclopentadecanone, and it is a purely synthetic ingredient with no natural counterpart.

Macrocyclic musks such as Silvanone® Supra were developed as an alternative to natural animal-derived musks. While natural musk is extracted from the glands of the male musk deer, synthetic musks offer an ethically acceptable alternative with a similar scent profile.
In perfumery, musks act as fixatives that slow down the evaporation of more volatile ingredients. This explains why Silvanone® Supra imparts longer lasting power to fragrances where it is used.
The molecular structure of macrocyclic musks features a large ring of carbon atoms, typically 15 to 17 atoms. This cyclic arrangement accounts for their characteristic scent and exceptional stability in fragrance compositions.
